As an incredibly discreet type of orthodontic treatment, patients love that they can straighten their teeth without anyone knowing. But that’s not the only benefit:
Another advantage of Invisalign is that it works for a variety of mild to moderate alignment problems, including crowding, gaps, overbites, underbites, and more. However, if you have particularly severe issues that need to be corrected, Dr. Rattan and Dr. Thangaraj may recommend braces to give you the best results.
Invisalign typically works better for older teens and adults who are able to commit to wearing them as directed. Dr. Rattan and Dr. Thangaraj will also make sure that you don’t have extensive cavities or gum disease that needs to be addressed before beginning treatment.
Once Dr. Rattan and Dr. Thangaraj have determined that you’re a good candidate after an Invisalign consultation, you can get started with your Invisalign treatment in just a couple of visits. At the first appointment, we’ll take images and digital impressions to send to the Invisalign lab where your trays will be made. We can also show you a virtual image of your results before you start and give you an estimate of how long your treatment will take.
It usually takes about 3 weeks to get your aligners from the lab, at which point you’ll return to pick up your first set of trays. We’ll apply small, tooth-colored “attachments” to your teeth that will keep your trays in place and have you try your first set of trays in. Then we’ll review your instructions and answer any questions you have. You’ll use a new set of aligners about every 2 weeks and come back for a progress visit every 4-8 weeks to pick up additional trays.
